On March 25, Steve Rothenberg, Assistant Principal of Concord High School and Director of the Concord Regional Technical Center recently spoke to the Rotary Club of Concord.  Steve has been an educator in New Hampshire for 22 years and in Concord for 20 years.  He is president-elect of the New Hampshire Career and Technical Administrators (NHCTA).

The CRTC serves not only the Concord School District, but also the

Bow, Hillsboro-Deering, Hopkinton, John Stark, Kearsarge, Merrimack Valley, Pembroke and Pittsfield school districts.  Established in 1980, the CRTC has helped thousands of high school students in our area get a head start on potential careers.  All CRTC programs are designed to give students a “hands-on” experience, allowing them to gain valuable knowledge, develop skills to help the student develop skills and research potential career options.

The CRTC offers courses in the following disciplines:
  1. Automotive Technology
  2. Construction Technology
  3. Criminal Justice
  4. Culinary Arts
  5. Fire Science
  6. Graphic Arts & Digital Communication
  7. Health Science & Technology
  8. Information Technology
  9. Teacher Preparation
The CRTC utilizes industry connections to place students in the actual environment they will be working in, including via internships and job-shadowing.  Its industry and community partners participate on CRTC advisory boards to ensure that CRTC programs are properly preparing students for careers.
Some CRTC programs offer a dual enrollment option where students can earn college credits while in high school.
Tuition to the CRTC is paid for by the home high school and the State of New Hampshire.
The CRTC must recruit students every year.  CRTC teachers work hard to promote the educational experience of each and every student with the hope of developing in each student the desire to further their education in some capacity beyond high school.
